On November 18, 2013, United States Citizenship and Immigration Services (USCIS) released processing times for various service centers.
The processing of U-Visa petitions (Form I-918) are delayed. According to USCIS, petitions submitted on or before December 10, 2012 have been processed whereas petitions submitted after December 10, 2012 have not been processed and you must continue to wait for processing. USCIS advises that if you submitted a petition before December 10, 2012, and your U-Visa Petition has not been processed, then you should contact the USCIS service center at 1-800-375-5283.
If you have filed a U-Visa petition and currently have a case pending in immigration court, you may want to request a continuance to allow USCIS additional time to process your U-Visa petition - the reason being that if your U-Visa is granted, then you may no longer need a final merits hearing in immigration court.
Please contact Wickens Law Group at 253-383-4200 for questions regarding immigration court and your pending U-Visa Petition.
