Leaders and members of religious faiths announce 40 days of fasting

Posted by Sean P. Wickens on Sep 13, 2013 | 0 Comments

The Interfaith Immigration Coalition is a partnership of faith-based organizations. Their goal is fair and humane immigration reform and they are sending a message to Congress by fasting from now until October 18. This latest push for Congress to pass immigration reform is titled "Fast Action for Immigration Reform." It is gaining momentum because of its palatable title, its outreach to national religious organizations and its connection to local places of prayer.

Although it is uncertain how quickly Congress will pass immigration reform and what such reform would entail, the efforts of various immigrant, labor, and political groups have gained momentum in advocating for immigration reform. Hopefully, such momentum will result in the necessary pressure for Congress to promptly pass comprehensive and lasting immigration reform.
